Carol Ely Scholarship

Students enrolled in a credit-bearing early education program at an accredited university can apply to receive a scholarship to attend the Annual Conference. You must be registered for the 2026 semester to be eligible.

Carol Ely joined the National Association for the Education of Young Children in 1961. She served as president for both the New York State affiliate and her local Rochester chapter. Carol wanted early childhood education students to have the experience of attending the NYAEYC Annual Conference. She felt that the excitement of being with colleagues in the profession, who are as enthused and committed to the care and education of young children is a critical component to their professional development. In recognition of her support of NYAEYC and early childhood students her family made a generous donation to implement the Carol K. Ely Student Scholarship Fund.

Criteria

Student must be an Early Childhood Major:

  • Both full-time and part-time students are eligible
  • Student identification required

Preferences given to students who:

  • Are members of NYAEYC
  • Are willing to volunteer for some portion of the conference
  • Are willing to participate in the Student Poster Board Session (please reach out to Joan Buzick for more information)
  • Are interested in attending both days
